POCKET TEAM TIMER FAQ
Q. When I try to synchronize my database files to my
desktop pc
(using ActiveSync/Pocket Access), I get the following
error: "ODBC Microsoft Access Driver Login Failed."What is going on?
A. This problem can be caused by one or two conditions, or
both.
First , Cradle your device and open
Acitve Sync/Options
Make sure
that Pocket Access is unchecked.
B. The PTT.cdb file can be dragged to the desktop for
modifications, etc.(this step will soon be eliminated by the TEAM Timer
OFFICE) When you drag this file to the desktop, It will automatically
convert the file to .MDB. Uncheck the two boxes at the bottom of
this Conversion dialog box,"Keep Tables Synchronized" and"Overwrite
existing Tables and/or data"
This will solve the issue.
C: You can then go back and check Pocket Access if you are using
program that require this feature.
Q. Why does the race screen open partially hidden
after adding entrants?
Occasionally, after loading
Entrants to a race, closing the Add
Entrants screen opens the Race Screen. The Race screen will fail to
open in Full Screen mode. This condition results in some runners not
being seen on the screen.
A. After the Add Entrant Screen is closed, if the
Race screen is not Full,
Select EVENT/DONE.
This will close out the race.
Reselecting the race will open it with proper size.
This problem only seems to arise AFTER entrants are added.
If a race is loaded before a meet, make a point to open the race right
after the assignments are made, and then close.
The next time the race is opened the Screen Size will be correct.
Q. Why do some of my races open with the runners listed in
a random order?
A. Simply hitting the NAME title bar will toggle the runners into
the order you have loaded them for the race.
Q. When using the "Press and Hold" menu features , the
program will not respond when selecting the command.?
A. Select the command twice, it will
respond on the second click.
Q. After a race, I selected Done,or Stop and the
program just shuts down, Is my race data lost?
A. No, The race data is saved in 3
files and the PTT.cdb
The Team Timer OFFICE
reads the data from the results.cdb.
You can view the data by
opening the Results.txt file.
Date is also available
from the REPORT menu command.
The symptom you are
explaining happens when the the PTT program has been left running for
too long. Periodically shut down and reopen the program to prevent this
symptom.
REGISTER your product
Q. What can I do to prevent it.
A. REGISTER your product. Upgrade to the
lates Release. We have corrected this issue.
The issue can be resolved
by deleting PTT_RESULTS .cdb,.txt and .csv. These file will be
recreated the next time you run PTT.
Our latest
releases have discontinued creating the ,CSV and .TXT files and
have solved this problem.
Q. I have received a
registration number but cannot get it to work on my device?
A. Contact
chocolatefishsoftware , some devices use a non
standardized serial no. system. We have a special patch to solve
this issue.
Q. How can I set up
relays?
A. Check out the
last enties in the STEP
by
STEP SETUP.
Q. I set up and ran
a relay according to your instructions. It all goes well until I
stop the race. This action causes all the runners to be sorted by
time and the relay teams are separated.
A. Download and
Install PTT ver 1.87 .
We have included a RELAY feature on the menu bar.
Select RELAY before the start of the race. This will turn OFF the
sort feature. The race results will be reported, dispalyed and
saved as they are set up by the user.
Q. Should I upgrade
to the Latest Version?
A. YES, We are
always improving the Program and adding features.
Q. Lately when I run
the Pocket Team Timer, the program shuts down without my prompting,
runs erratic or behaves weirdly.
A. These are signs
of a corrupt PTT_RESULTS.cdb file.
PTT will create this file automatically. Shut down PTT, delete
the file and restart.
PTT will run as it did when new.
This file keeps all race results date for the season. It is
automatically uploaded to your desktop each time you cradle your
PPC. Your data will be as current as your last SYNC.
We
have solved this issue in our latest release.
Q. Timer Synch
takes a long time to do it's job. When I cradle the PPC it ties
up the process for several minutes.
A. The
PTT_RESULTS.cdb file contains ALL race data from the season. It
is uploaded each time you cradle your PPC.
It is a good practice to delete this file at the end
of each season. The longer this file gets, the longer it takes to
upload this file.
Q. Activsynce
will not Transfer the .CDB files in WM5
A. Make sure you have downloaded and installed the proper program. We have designed a program specific for WM5 devices which use ActivSync 4.0 and higher. Windows
Mobile 5 Pocket PC version. It May also be necessary to set up specific allowances with your firewall settigns to allow ActiveSync to function properly. See this guide for specific instructions; ActiveSync 4.0/4.1/4.2 USB Connection Troubleshooting Guide
